2007 Centenary Regatta
22nd to 27th July 2007
Royal Yacht Squadron, Cowes
Celebrate 100 Years of Metre Rule Sailing
After 100 years, this regatta is collecting as many metre boats as can make the trip to Cowes from all over the world for what is expected to be a stunning event. The Sixes will undoubtedly form a core to the fleet, with the event following on directly from the World Championships. It is anticipated that many other metre classes will have attended the British Classic Yacht Club Regatta, also during the previous week, the 8mR will be returning from their Worlds at Largs in Scotland and the 12mR will be off afterwards to their Worlds in the Mediterranean.
This event is a celebration of the metre rule, not a metre class championships, and related classes have also been invited to attend - such as the 5.5 metres, the Darings (a frozen design of a 5.5 metre) and the J-class yachts (for instance, Candida was converted from a 24mR to a J).
The event is being co-ordinated by IMETA (International Metre Classes Association) and details are available from their web site www.imeta.org. The Notice of Race is on the Royal Yacht Squadron web site, but described below are some of the essential features of organising attendance at this event. You can enter for this event at the Royal Yacht Squadron.
If you are planning to attend other events, it is recommended that you let us know, since in the event that there are too many entries, priority will be given to those who registered early - this is not a commitment, but an indication of intent. IMETA are co-ordinating entries to all the events in the calendar around this event.

View information here for some of the essential features of organising attendance at this event. It would be appreciated if any owners intending to bring their boat can provide an early indication of which events they wish to attend - this is not an entry, but to help with logistics, ensure adequate support facilities across all the events and so that we can communicate with you. If demand is very high and numbers have to be restricted, priority will go to those who have registered. We are co-ordinating activities along with IMETA and it would be helpful if you could pre-register your interest.
The logistics of getting your boat to Cowes could not be easier - the Solent has one of the most concentrated areas of support organisations for yachting in the world. Local 6mR sailors will be pleased to assist where required. See advice.

The Regatta Charity is Sail4Cancer.
Sail4Cancer aims to raise funds for cancer treatment and research as well as providing sailing opportunities for cancer patients and their families, in the hope that their quality of life may be improved.
